Abstract

Postherpes neuralgia is not an uncommon complication of herpes. Neuropathic pain is confined to the dermatome supplied by cutaneous nerves. A number of pharmacotherapies and other treatment modalities are tried in treatment of this type of neuralgia; however, still, a sizeable number of patients are refractory to treatment options. Treatment options for such cases is severely limited. Botulinum toxin has been tried recently as one of the treatment option in intractable postherpes neuralgia. In the present report, we have tried botulinum toxin injections in eight patients.
