HUGONIA MYSTAX: A REVIEW

Abstract

From centuries people of various cultures have used plants as medicine. Useful of medicinal plants for various diseases is now a day’s becoming the solution to the health problem in the present world. One of the search plants is Hugonia mystax to incorporate in the medicinal plant uses.  Hugonia mystax is the Climbing Shrub generally found in dry evergreen to dry deciduous forests. Mostly found in south Indian forest i.e. Kerala and Tamilnadu. It is also known as climbing flax in English language and called Mothirakanni and Kamsamaraha in Tamil and Sanskrit respectively. Root of Hugonia mystax is use to treat inflammatory swellings. It also used as astringent, febrifuge and anthelmintic. This paper has been prepared to focus on the reported pharmacological action and present phytoconstituents of plant.
